Against the backdrop of a carnival populated with sublime and grotesque characters, the star-crossed lovers scheme to undermine a centuries-old patriarchy, where “coin is king”, and citizens mere pawns to enrich debauched governors. Darné and Clare’s quest for sovereignty will draw them into the throes of a fiery revolution.

Author, Anastasia Blackwell was distinguished in Edinburgh Critical Guides, Gothic Literature, Second Addition, 2016, in a list of prominent and influential authors of early twenty-first century gothic fiction. She is an award-winning writer, producer, actress, and trapeze artist, raised in the Pacific Northwest, with roots in San Francisco, who currently resides in Santa Monica, California.

I could not get through the book (only got to 38%). It bills itself as a love story between these two characters but the characters barely interact and do not really seem to even like each other. Also there is SO MUCH sexual content (some being BDSM). No idea why it is in the teenage category.Product details

Great Read.
A beautifully written romantic/dark fantasy that captivated me from cover to cover. Loved the evocative narrative , powerful themes and strong characters! A must read!
I could not get through the book (only got to 38%). It bills itself as a love story between these two characters but the characters barely interact and do not really seem to even like each other. Also there is SO MUCH sexual content (some being BDSM). No idea why it is in the teenage category.
